About
This website was created by Tom Elwertowski of Highland Road, Brookline to combine info from the Brookline Assessors Department and the Massachusetts Historical Commission MACRIS databases.
New capabilities from this combination include:
- View info for multiple buildings on one screen.
- View a picture (if available) for each MACRIS item.
- Show the location of buildings on a map.
- Allow more complex searches.
- Show asessment changes over time.
Historical information was obtained from the Massachusetts Cultural Resource Information System (MACRIS) in November 2009. Click the link to directly query the current MACRIS database.
Assessment information was obtained from the Brookline Assessors Department annual Property Assessment spreadsheets for FY2002 through FY2011. In cases where the Assessors date built differs from the MACRIS date built, the latter is used.
Photos were obtained from the Assessors Database in February 2007.
Property boundaries for maps were obtained from MassGIS in August 2007.
Known deficiencies:
- Secondary structures such as carriage houses do not have photos.
- Properties with only a carriage house are sometimes listed twice because it's not clear that the carriage house isn't a secondary structure.
- Photos and map boundaries are four years older than the building info. Consequently about 2% of the photos and/or boundaries are obsolete or missing due to new construction, reconstruction or condo conversion.
